1966 Ford Mustang Changes New For 1966
The Mustang continued to sell well and received only minor styling changes for 1966. The instrument panel was restyled and no longer looked like the Falcon's. The grille still featured the Mustang horse emblem surrounded by a chrome "corral" but it was now floating against a background of horizontal metal strips. The 1966 side cove received a new chrome trim, called by some a "three-toothed comb".
1966 was first year of the federally mandated safety standards and the new 66 Mustangs now included as standard equipment front and rear seat belts, padded instrument panel, emergency flashers, electric windshield wipers and windshield washers. 1966 Ford Mustang Production Numbers
